Foundation Repair in Birmingham, AL

Challenge:

We were called by Mrs. Porter to take a look at a home that she and her husband had just purchased. They bought the home without an inspection but understood that the home was going to need some work. She had an engineer take a look at the home and I was one of 5 other companies that came out to inspect the home. I started with the interior, where I took my laser level and measured the inside and also measured the outside. There were obvious cracks on the inside and the outside of the home. Along with the inside and outside cracks I noticed where a new lintel was needed as well.

Solution:

After the inspection was done, I sat down with Mrs. Porter and went over the solution to the issues at hand. I explained to her how helical piers work and how we go about quoting them. After the measurements they were going to need a total of 28 piers along with 400+ square feet of poly leveling and a new lintel for the garage door. After explaining all of the findings and solutions to her I proceeded to ask why they had us out. As obvious as it may be, They wanted the foundation taken care of because they were newly empty nesters and wanted to downsize. So this was going to be a home they were going to renovate and remodel and they needed to focus on the foundation first before the renovations began.

Challenge:

Mr. Whatley flips houses and needed APS to get a quick turn around on a house he was planning on selling soon. Once I got to the property Mr. Whatley informed me about the water intrusion in the basement and how he was looking to quickly get the work done. I used my laser measurer to figure out the distance required for the waterguard system and also the square footage of the wall that we would need to cover and the placement of the sump pump.

Solution:

After measuring the basement and getting the pictures and figuring out the design for the project I sat down with Mr. Whatley. This project needed 86 ft. of waterguard and 688 square footage of 20 mil liner for the walls. We decided to place a battery backup sump pump towards the back of the house and let the drainage go down the back of the yard that had a steep grade. After going over the design and different options for the work Mr. Whatley was pleased with the design and wanted to get on the calendar to get the work completed.
